PLANÈTE

A COLLECTION OF COLLAGES.

MY MIND WAS PRINTED ON PAPER.

Music, Art and Design are my conscious and subconscious influences and have been throughout my entire life. The all-consuming power of music affects me, it moves me and it has the ability to alter my state of mind.

From the days of singing along to the Rolling Stones in back of Dad’s car, to playing ‘Eclipse’ by Pink Floyd on repeat in the attempt to understand my late brother’s mental struggles, music has been there and held my hand. This publication is a visual homage to the songs that have influenced me in one way or another. It will celebrate the songs that resonate with me on an emotional level, the songs that transport me to a moment in time, the songs that I can listen to over and over and not grow tired of, the songs that have left me breathless, and the ones that have made me cry.

Music is a unifying medium, a force that transcends nationality, race, and culture. While my project is deeply personal, the songs I have chosen are shared and understood by millions of people all over the world. My hope and expectation is that the chosen tracks resonate with my audience in unique ways. Through my book I hope to connect with its reader emotionally, with a mutual understanding and comprehension of how music touches us as humans.

Combining my passion for composition, curation & publication design, I created a refined A5 hard-cover art book. Through a series of collages, I visually represented how these songs effect me, what they evoke from my memories and the mood they project on me as a listener. To create a more immersive experience, a playlist of each track is available below, so you can immerse yourself within the music and see a little bit of the world through my eyes.   A visual translation of me and my mind's interpretations, as a human being and as a creative designer.

There is something really special about beginning a session with a blank page, with no real expectation of how your work will turn out. You will often find me in Chapel St Bazaar collecting vintage Playboy magazines from the 60’s and random Astrology pamphlets from the 80's. To create something modern and fresh from a collection of old and sometimes forgotten images, is incredibly liberating to me as a creative.
